Equipment Operator
 

Description:  The St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission (MetCom) has an immediate opening for an Equipment Operator.

 

Responsibilities:  This position will be responsible for operating heavy construction equipment to build and maintain water supply and wastewater disposal lines and facilities; access roads and adjacent terrain; service machines; make repairs and adjustments on machines and equipment; and assist mechanic with major repairs.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Applicants must possess at least a valid Class “A” CDL driver’s license and have a driving record which will not prevent the candidate from obtaining coverage under MetCom’s insurance policy. High School diploma or GED; Five or more years of experience operating heavy equipment; ability to operate a backhoe, skid loader and dump truck as well as a variety of tools and ability to perform physically demanding tasks. Experience in utility construction and water and sewer maintenance a plus.
