PROJECT TO SERVE EXISTING FAILING

ONSITE SEPTIC SYSTEMS

A Public Meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at the Leonardtown High School Auditorium.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss a proposed project to upgrade the treatment processes at the facility and construct the components required for a sewage collection system to serve those existing homes who have failed or failing on-site septic systems.  This project will not include any expansion of the service area or any connections for new development

The project generally consists of constructing additional Rapid Infiltration Basin capacity and includes some treatment process enhancements to allow the facility to serve the homes already connected that are above the design allocations and will include serving existing homes that have failed or failing on-site systems.  The meeting is being held to discuss the impact the project will have on the community, to provide an estimated cost for the project, and to receive input from any interested persons.

A Power Point presentation will be posted on the Commission’s website at www.metcom.org with more details prior to the meeting date. Hard copies will be available on request. The project will be funded by a debt service charge which will be added to the monthly bill of each customer served by this system.

All interested persons are invited to attend the Public Meeting and to present their comments and suggestions.
