Question: Where Does My Water Come From?

The source of your drinking water is twenty two ground water wells. Sixteen are in the Aquia Aquifer, which ranges in depth from 450 to 600 feet underground. Four wells are in the Piney Point Aquifer, which lies 360 feet below the earth's surface. Two are in the Patapsco Aquifer which lies about 914 feet underground. Our water comes from confined Aquifers. These confined units are thick, impervious clay layers that lie above and below the water bearing sand strata.
We are very fortunate that these confining layers protect our Aquifers. The only treatment your water receives is the addition of chlorine as a precautionary disinfecting agent prior to entering the water distribution system.

Source water assessments evaluate the quality of water used for drinking water supplies for local communities. The assessments examine activities associated with the specific well sites and the surrounding areas in order to determine their contribution to each well's contamination. These potential contributors are often compiled into a vulnerability summary. Vulnerability summaries are completed for each well.
