Board of Commissioners
The Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Commission is comprised of seven volunteers appointed by the Commissioners of St. Mary's County and one non-voting representative from the Naval Air Station Patuxent River. Commissioners serve a three-year term. All meetings of the Metropolitan Commission are open to the public. Meetings of the Metropolitan Commission are held the fourth Thursday of each month beginning at 3:00 p.m. A copy of the 2025 Commission Meeting schedule can be found here. All meetings of the Metropolitan Commission are conducted in the Main Conference Room of our Administrative Office, located at 23121 Camden Way, California, MD 20619. The public is encouraged to attend the meetings and may request the opportunity to be heard and voice concerns on items posted to the agenda.
To have a topic considered for placement on the agenda, a Request for Appointment on the Commission Meeting Agenda (FORM) must be completed and submitted via email to agenda_request@metcom.org or to the Administrative Office two weeks prior to the meeting. Please include an outline of the presentation and any other associated documents. Any questions regarding your submission can be directed to 301-737-7400 X 213. All other requests to be heard at any meeting will be at the discretion of the Board Chairman.
The Agenda for the Regular Meeting will be published no later than the Monday preceding the meeting and can be viewed on the Public Meetings page. Meeting videos are available in the days following the meeting and minutes are published following Board approval.

Ronald L. Hafner
Election District 1
Ronald Hafner, 1st Election District, moved to St. Mary's County in 1977. After a short stay in Lexington Park, he moved to St. Inigoes, where he still resides. Ron worked for the Maryland Park Service for nine years before switching to the Maryland Forest Service, where he was a Forest Warden and Regional Maintenance Supervisor. Ron also served in the military for a total of twenty years; three years in the Army National Guard and seventeen in the Air Force Reserves. Ron joined the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD) in 1992. He is a life member and has held several positions, currently serving as the President of RVFD. He has been married to his wife Mary for thirty-nine years. They have two grown children, Paul and Gretchen.

George K. Anas
Election District 2 & 9
George K. Anas, 2nd & 9th Election Districts, is employed by Berkshire Hathaway Energy Gas Transmission & Storage (BHE GT&S), a multi-state natural gas pipeline and LNG service provider. He is a graduate of James Madison University. George is Director of External Affairs and is responsible for corporate and government external affairs for the company. He is a registered lobbyist in Maryland and Virginia. In addition to his service with the St. Mary's County Metropolitan Commission, Maryland Governor Wes Moore appointed George to the St. Mary’s County Alcohol Beverage Board of Commissioners in 2024. Mr. Anas is actively engaged locally, and he also serves on the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Foundation Board. He is past president of the Fork Union Military Academy Alumni Association and was elected to the Fork Union Military Academy Board of Trustees in 2019. Mr. Anas previously served as a Trustee on the Virginia State University Board of Visitors, as well as a Board membership on the Rockingham County Economic Development Authority, the Shenandoah Valley Partnership, the Massanutten Technical Center Foundation, and Virginia Agribusiness Council. George is married to Kellie Hinkle, and they reside in Tall Timbers.

John E. Pleisse
Election District 3
John E. Pleisse, 3rd Election District, grew up in Harford County graduating from Aberdeen High School. He attended the University of Maryland earning his BS degree in Business Administration and thereafter a JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law while working for GEICO and then at NASA Goddard Space Center. He then relocated to St. Mary’s County and began the practice of law, which included serving several stints as Assistant State’s Attorney, Public Defender, Planning Commission Attorney, Adjunct Professor for Embry Riddle University and first in-house counsel for the St. Mary's County Metropolitan Commission. He now enjoys semi-retirement; continuing to engage in part-time practice of law.

Dale Antosh
Election District 4 & 5
Dale Antosh, 4th & 5th Election Districts, has been a St. Mary’s County property owner since 1961 and moved here full-time in 2008. Mr. Antosh was a high school teacher for 35-years and is a graduate of the University of Maryland in Technology Education. Mr. Antosh is currently the President of the Golden Beach/Patuxent Knolls Civic Association, a position he has held for over 10-years. Mr. Antosh is also the Vice-President of BEMANCO, a corporation that manages the properties in Golden Beach, Maryland.

Keith S. Dugan
Election District 6
Keith S. Dugan, 6th Election District, Resides in Hollywood and is a Graduate of Chopticon High School and West Virginia University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Mr. Dugan served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and spent 35 years as a Construction Executive for Commercial Construction. Full Bio
