Shangri-La Drive & Essex Drive Waterline Replacement Phase 2

Background

The Shangri-La Drive & Essex Drive Waterline Replacement Project is a two-phase water main replacement project as seen above. The existing 8” water main system was originally constructed as part of the Patuxent Park Water System by the United States Navy over 65 years ago. The aging system needs water main, valve, service lateral, and fire hydrant replacement to adequately serve the Lexington Park area.

Project Scope of Work

This project will replace the water system on Shangri-La Drive from FDR Blvd to South Essex Drive and on South Essex Drive from Great Mills Road to Shangri-La Drive (see the above depiction). The work consists of the replacement of approximately 1,900 linear feet of water line and 5 fire hydrants, including water service connections to the existing services. The new water main will be constructed using 8” C-900 PVC inside the county Right of Way. Metcom will coordinate with the Lexington Park Elementary School, Library, and local businesses to assure a smooth construction period.
