Town Creek Phase 2

Background – Town Creek Water Main Replacement Phase 2

This Project is the second phase of a multi-phase project. The Town Creek Water System was originally built in the 1950s as a stand-alone water system. MetCom subsequently assumed ownership and operation of this system and incorporated it into the greater Lexington Park Water System. The water mains do not meet current MetCom specifications, are undersized, and are over 60 years old reaching the end of their useful life (approximately 70 years for cement lined pipe). Additionally, the project will correct the layout of many of the water services to the existing homes by installing individual water meters to more accurately track water usage. The distribution system in Town Creek currently serve approximately 360 customers.

Project Scope of Work

This Project will replace the existing water mains ranging in size from 1.5-inch to 4-inch diameter of various materials and in both public right of way and on private property, with new water mains of 8-inch diameter in the public right of way and easements.  The Phase 2 project limits extend along Maple Drive (from south of Elm Court northward to the end), Kristi Lynn Court, Cratchet Lane, Laurel Haven Way, Hickory Lane, Bobs Court, Hollow Lane, Red Oak Road, Spruce Drive (from Maple Drive to Chestnut Drive), and Chestnut Drive (north of Spruce Drive, including connecting to Phase 1 water mains on Chestnut Drive) and Spruce Drive (see above Town Creek Phase exhibit). This project will also install new fire hydrants, meter pits, and water services to residents included in the above-mentioned project limits.
